WRs Gordon, Jeffery, Decker deliver for fantasy owners

For the second week in a row, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon was nearly unstoppable -- and in the process he's firmly established himself as one of the NFL's elite pass-catchers. On the heels of a 14-catch, 237-yard effort in Week 12, Gordon followed it up with an even bigger performance on Sunday.

The second-year wideout had caught seven passes for 149 yards and a touchdown when he was forced to leave the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after taking a blow to the head. But after passing the required concussion tests, he returned to deliver perhaps his signature play of the season -- a 95-yard catch-and-run touchdown from quarterback Brandon Weeden (24-of-40 for 370 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT).

THE Q: Browns' Gordon enters NFL record books

Gordon finished the day with 10 receptions for 261 yards and two touchdowns. His yardage total was the second-highest in the league this season -- behind only the 329 yards from the Detroit Lions' Calvin Johnson on Oct. 27.

As great as Gordon's stat line was, it was only the week's third-best by a receiver in point-per-reception formats.

The Chicago Bears' Alshon Jeffery caught 12 passes for 249 yards and a pair of touchdowns in an overtime win against the Minnesota Vikings. Jeffery's two additional catches gave him 48.9 fantasy points for his PPR owners (24.9 for the yardage, 12 for the receptions and 12 for the TDs), just edging Gordon's total of 48.1.

However, the best fantasy performance of the day came later in the day when Eric Decker of the Denver Broncos caught four touchdown passes from QB Peyton Manning on his way to rolling up 49.4 fantasy points. Decker hauled in eight passes for 174 yards to go with those four scores.

In standard scoring leagues, Decker finished with 41.4 points, Gordon had 38.1 and Jeffery finished with 36.9.

Any of the three wide receivers could have almost single-handedly carried his fantasy owners to victory this week -- unless, of course, their owners were playing against each other.

Elsewhere on Sunday:

-- Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings countered Jeffery's air strikes with a dominating ground game, shredding the Bears defense for 211 yards on 35 carries. However, he failed to get into the end zone. The Vikings' only rushing touchdown came from rookie wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson.

-- After a hugely disappointing seven carries for one yard last week, Houston Texans running back Ben Tate foiled the fantasy owners who went scrambling to the waiver wire for backup Dennis Johnson. Tate carried 22 times for a season-high 102 yards and three touchdowns against the New England Patriots. (Johnson finished with three rushes for 16 yards.)

-- Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill may not be consistent enough to lead fantasy teams through the playoffs, but he did more than enough to get those bold enough to start him this week a crucial victory. Tannehill completed 28-of-43 passes for 331 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also added 22 rushing yards against the New York Jets. WR Brian Hartline was the main beneficiary, with nine catches for 127 yards and a TD.

For the Jets, QB Geno Smith was benched at halftime for Matt Simms, but neither one had any success.

-- It's rare that a kicker makes a huge difference in a fantasy matchup, but the Indianapolis Colts' Adam Vinatieri could have this week. He booted five field goals and an extra point against the Tennessee Titans. For those leagues that award points for distance, four of his five field goals were from beyond 45 yards.
